Talking Your Book

You didn't see it in Wolf Of Wall Street, perhaps because that's all they did but didn't call it to your attention.  Talking Your Book is a Wall Street technique designed to help someone buy or sell stocks.  Say you want to acquire a large block of stock but want a lower price;  go on CNBC and knock the company.  Of, if you want a higher price because you want to unload, go on CNBC and boast about the company.

Watch CNBC (or any other business news outlet, including print, and you will sense examples of this.

Do we really believe that a manager who has uncovered a jewel will run to tell us about it?  The tip here is take gratuitous advice with a grain of real big salt.
