213,000 Reasons To Feel Good, A Couple To Feel Bad, Bad Wins

ADP, the large, private payroll processor, just said that its research shows that 213,000 private sector jobs were created in September, above the 202,000 level being predicted by a consensus of economists.

Good news for the economy, of course.  But this is trumped by CNN, MSNBC, Fox, CNBmute, not to mention the local news parrot on your city's tv station.  If it's not a weather episode that is going to kill us, it's ebola.  Or racial tensions in Ferguson.  Over and over the news directors of this nation decide that what scares us drives viewership and ratings.  Real news judgments?  Leave that to PBS and the ghosts of the Herald-Tribune.  Fear sells and we consume it readily.
