Gabe Kaplan

Greece Is Europe's Florida

The comedian Gabe Kaplan (we handled his public relations locally) had some favorite lines about Florida when he appeared in St. Louis ("The average age of my condo is deceased"  "My Florida condo has installed a Master Pacemaker").  But let's compare Florida to Greece.  Florida has 20 million people, many retired but lots and lots working;  Greece has 11 million Greece'ers, many on pensions starting at age 57 and working at welfare state standards.
Yet, the Prime Minister of that country is able to wag the European dog by vowing to not wear a tie and seeing how far an extreme debtor can go insulting his creditors.  In the universe of statesmen, has he joined folks like the guy in North Korea or Castro, etc. in acting outside the realm of decency?
Reports are that hedge fund operators David Einhorn and John Paulson have invested $11 billion in Greek government bonds, Greek bank stocks, and other Greek investments.
Who should we align ourselves with?  These proven investors or some tieless wonder?
