The End Of Yellow?

Media mavens are busy predicting the demise of the taxicab industry in NYC.  Medallions, the piece of metal affixed to the hood of a yellow cab recently sold for close to a million dollars.  Each cab usually operates around-the-clock with a rare day off for maintenance.  There are about four licensed drivers for each cab on the street.

Does this street scene look like cabs are going away because of Uber, the ride hailing and ride sharing service?
